The 2021 growing season provided us with a lovely vintage across all our varietals. The dry conditions from extreme drought led to smaller crops, yet our intensely farmed vineyards adapted amazingly well by focusing their energy into ripening smaller but very concentrated grapes, leading to outstanding quality and flavor.

This 100% Cabernet Sauvignon was produced with our finest organically farmed vineyard lots in Napa Valley. It is an exceptional example of ZD’s long-held belief in the art of blending, and how different sites can produce a wine that exceeds its individual parts. Each vineyard lot was fermented and barrel aged separately for one year before blending, and aged for an additional two years in American Oak barrels.

The 2021 Reserve Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon boasts a deep, dark hue and complex aromas. Notes of jammy blackberries, currants, raspberries, plum, and cherries mingle with savory mulling spices, chocolate, and licorice. On the palate, the wine exhibits remarkable depth and structure with a luxurious richness. The tannins are perfectly balanced and delicately soft, creating an elegant wine that is showing wonderfully now but will also age beautifully with cellaring.
