The Vintage
2006 was a vintage that kept us on our toes. The flooding of winter led to a wet spring that delayed bud break and early growth. This gave us a poor fruit set that led to a lighter crop. June saw good canopy growth that helped us prepare for the searing heat we experienced in mid-July. It was one of our latest harvests, starting on September 29 and finishing on November 1 just before the rains began. The light yields and long hang time made this a great vintage for us.
Tasting Notes, Revisited by the Winemakers, August 2019
After almost three years of aging in American Oak and 13 years in the bottle, this wine is showing elegance and a depth of complexity that is a delight. The color is deep red and the aroma hints of plum and cedar. The palate is beautifully balanced and shows delicate flavors of black cherries, plum, coffee, and toasted nuts. The finish is clean and lingering, and begs for another taste.
