2010 Reserve Chardonnay

The long, cool summer of 2010 led to a spectacular vintage from our organically farmed ZD Carneros Estate Vineyard. This Reserve is a blend from several blocks within the vineyard including Block 4, the Clone 95 block replanted in 2003. Hand harvested under the cool cover of night at optimal maturity and cold fermented in 100% American Oak barrels with no malo-lactic fermentation gives this wine a nice balance of intense, ripe fruit and bright natural acidity. 15 months of extended aging in barrel helped round out the texture and added complexity to this distinctive chardonnay. Aromas of pear, orange blossom, lime zest and sweet vanilla mingle with a palate bursting with bright fruit, lively acidity and subtle toasty American oak notes. This wine is drinking wonderfully now and will continue to develop for many years. Enjoy!
